About Anderson Hand Therapy

Hamish Anderson is an Accredited Hand Therapist as awarded by the Australian Hand Therapy Association. He has more than 20 years’ experience and a special interest in managing sporting injuries and wrist pain.

Hamish helps people to alleviate chronic pain, recover from injuries, and rehab after surgeries on the upper limb (your hand, wrist, arm and shoulder).

Hamish is also the only hand therapist in Australia to be employed by an AFL team, having worked for the Hawthorn Football Club since 2013. He assists professional and elite athletes in a broad variety of sports including climbing, cricket, rugby union, tennis, basketball, gymnastics, golf, rowing and more.

Extensive experience working with elite athletes at the highest levels of sport rehabilitation ensures Hamish understands how to get you back to playing and working at your best. His tailored treatment programs help you return to work, sport & play as safely and as swiftly as possible.

Mitchell Lewis from the Hawthorn Football Club

I have worked at the Hawthorn Football Club for ten years now. Part of my work there is ensuring the players have good hand strength. In the following clip, our key forward Mitchell Lewis explains how stronger hands have helped him play better football this year. In my blog I describe how an individualised hand strength program can help you in the sport or activity that is most important to you.

"I saw Hamish Anderson for recovery after ulnar nerve surgery. He has been absolutely excellent in leading my recovery process. In particular, he has focussed my recovery around climbing, which has made it really fun and engaging and has helped me finally get back on the wall! I would highly recommend him!"

"Hamish Anderson is a highly skilled and experienced hand therapist whom I have known professionally for 11 years. He has helped me manage complex hand and wrist injuries of AFL and Super Rugby players as well my private patients. This has included conservative management for non surgical cases as well as rehabilitation for surgical cases. Hamish is a skilled maker of hand and finger splints. He has a personable manner and has shown a willingness to go over and above to help. I have always valued Hamish's advice and can highly recommend his expertise.”
